Permanent Disability Benefits
Permanent disability benefits are intended to compensate an injured worker for whatever part of his or her injury that will not heal. In order to qualify, a workers' compensation doctor must write something called a permanent and stationary report, indicating that the injured worker will likely never fully recover from his or her injury, and has currently recovered as much as he or she ever will.
Permanent disability benefits tend to be far less than temporary disability benefits. The reason for this is because they are meant as a supplement, not as a replacement for income. Based on the date and severity of the injury, permanent disability benefits may be $220 to $270 a week
